A vibrant monarch butterfly rests gracefully on a cluster of pink aster flowers. The delicate wing patterns of the butterfly provide a striking contrast against the vivid petals. Migrating monarchs is a phenomenon. Each summer and autumn monarchs around North America will migrate to and from overwintering sites on the West Coast of California or mountainous sites in Central Mexico. The monarchs begin their migration from September to October and usually arrive at their roosting sites in November. Not all monarch populations make migrations.
